Check for and attend an “Evaluation
Day”. If it's mid-season, contact the MCSC and ask for a time to come in for an evaluation.
-
Contact us at info@mcscnj.com
to let us know your interest and experience.
-
Choose the Program
(e.g. year-round, Spring Training, etc.) or months you plan to practice. If you attend 1 practice in a given month, you are responsible for the Fee for the month. You are only responsible for Fees for the months that you sign up for and only up until the date you contact swimstiles@yahoo.com requesting a change.
-
You choose the # of days to practice. The days can vary month to month as scheduled on the registration form. You can also adjust the day in any given month as the season progresses, but you are responsible for Fees for planned days up until you send a email to swimstiles@yahoo.com requesting a change. The Fee you pay is for planned months/days you've scheduled, not the actual number of days you swim, so make up missed days when you can!
-
Complete registration requirements, including
choosing the specific practice days/times
based on availability. Check the Pool Usage Schedule.
-
You may send in registrations before an evaluation to
hold a practice slot.
-
You may make up missed practices and no need to tell
coaches in advance. Email swimstiles@yahoo.com
if you need to switch your primary practice days.
-
Meets are optional.
-
The coach’s work on the swimmers stroke mechanics,
starts, turns and endurance.

MEMBERS & PARENTS
-
Practice
& Meet schedules, Meet
locations & swimmer entries, Handbook,
Safety Plan, etc, are on www.mcscnj.com.
-
You can stay and watch practice from the bleachers.
Siblings must be supervised.
-
Only coaches and swimmers on the pool deck.
-
Supervise younger swimmers through the locker rooms.
-
Check www.mcscnj.com
on a regular basis for changes to the practice schedule. Also, there may be days that practice is
cancelled after we get to practice! Do not leave your swimmer until you know there is practice!
-
If you’re dropping off your swimmer(s), be sure they
check in with their coach before leaving.
-
You need to be at the pool by the scheduled end of
practice to pick up your swimmer(s). Do not ask your young swimmers to wait for you in the parking lot for pick up.
-
You will receive emails showing when payments are
due. Payments need to be turned in by the due date. You are responsible for monthly Fees up until the date you contact swimstiles@yahoo.com with requested changes.
-
Mail payments or give to a Coach or Jeff. There is flexibility in choosing the months and days to swim and you can request changes to your swim schedule during the season. However, because we plan our pool time and coaching based on your planned schedules, you are responsible for the Fees up until the last day of the current month of the date you send an email to swimstiles@yahoo.com requesting a schedule change.

PRACTICES
-
Arrive at practice 5-10 minutes early with goggles,
swim cap for long hair and fins. Check www.mcscnj.com on a regular basis for adjustments to the practice schedule. Closing due to the weather will be posted on the Home Page by 2PM weekdays and 8AM on weekends.
-
Be ready to swim for your full practice time.
-
Move quickly in & out of locker rooms. At MBS, do not use
the lockers; bring your bag to the pool deck. At CCM, obtain a locker and make use of the locker for your belongings while at practice. Children over 5 must use their respective locker room.
-
No fooling around at the school, save goofing off for
when you’re home (includes siblings, who must be supervised). No playing near the lower railing at MBS or on the stairways at either location.
-
Introduce yourself to new members and help them to
feel welcome.
-
Practice proper lane etiquette. Swim on the right,
pass on the left (middle of lane).
-
Let faster swimmers pass. If you feel a tap on your
foot, keep swimming but stay to your right.
-
Faster swimmers tap, not grab, a foot to let a
swimmer know you’re coming up to pass.
-
Listen to the coaches and focus on proper mechanics.
Speed will come with correct technique.

SWIM MEETS
-
Parents:
-
Meets are optional for all swimmers. Most meets are invitationals (many teams) to provide a wide range of competition for our members. The MCSC may schedule a small number of intrasquad and dual meets.
-
If you sign up to attend meets, tell the coaches ASAP if
you can’t make a meet.
-
We enter meets up to 2 months in advance.
-
You may be charged meet fees if you cancel after
entry is sent.
-
Arrive 15 minutes before warm-up to check in.
-
The MCSC is generally given a timing assignment,
which is split up across attending parents. Be prepared to take your turn
timing.
-
Some parents become volunteer Officials.
-
Either way, your "volunteer" help is required.
- Swimmers:
-
Know your events 5 days before the meet.
-
You’ll receive Heats & Lanes at the meet.
-
Some meets (e.g. 8&U’s) have marshalling; most
require you to be where you need to be.
-
There is downtime between events but 10 to 20 minutes
before you get on the blocks, focus on your event.
