Pullis Gathers Gold & 1st Place
Garrett Pullis of Denville and the
Morris County Swim Club continued his quest for all Gold Times in his
new Age Group. Pullis recently moved up to the 13-14 Group and
gathered 2 new Gold Times and a 1st Place at the Groundhog
Meet. The Gold Times qualify Pullis for the NJ Swimming Short Course
Junior Olympics at Rutgers University in March.
Pullis finished the M13-14 200 IM in
2:17.75 for 1st Place and 200 Breast in 2:37.87 for 2nd.
He also finished the 100 Back in 1:06.40, missing the Gold by 9
tenths of a second. He’ll have another opportunity to attain Gold
in the 100 Back when he competes with the MCSC at STRM Last Chance
Meet at Fort Dix Feb 24-25. A day earlier, Pullis added 2 Gold Times
at the NJ Junior Age Group Championships with a 13th Place
finish in the M14&U 200 Back in 2:17.18 and a 10th
Place 100 Free in 55.54. Pullis has already attained 11 Gold Times in
his new, older age group across Freestyle, Back, Breast, Butterfly
and Individual Medley events.
Other Denville athletes also competed
at the meet. Brian Stiles earned 3 Silver Times, in the 50 Fly, 50 &
200 Breast. The Silver Times qualify athletes for the Silver
Championships, the final qualifier for the Junior Olympics. A day
earlier at the Jr Age Group Championships, Stiles dropped 14.85 in
the M14&U 500 Free for a 5:51.97. At the Groundhog, Stephanie
Harris swam to Silver in the W10&U 100 Breast in a time of
1:38.35. She came within 3-tenths of a second of a Silver in the 50
Free with a time of 34.75. Jessica Stiles dropped to within 2 seconds
of a Silver in the W11-12 50 Fly finishing .52 faster in 36.20.
Andrew Strelec continued to drop time in his 50 Fly event. He
finished .37 faster in the 11-12 event in 43.28. Stephanie Large
charged the finish slashing 6.38 in the W11-12 50 Free in 45.27 and
12.65 from the 50 Back in 40.94. Anna Baccaglini earned 2 Best Times
with a 32.62 W11-12 50 Free and 39.78 50 Back. Brittany Campo swam
the W13-14 200 Breast in 3:12.74, 1.43 faster. Shannon Hughes cut
1.85 to finish 2:48.81 in the W13-14 200 IM and .56 better for
1:20.70 in the 100 Back. Juliann Stiles sliced 4.42 from the W7&U
25 Back to finish 27.03. Brother Michael competed in the M8&U
100IM, 50 Fly and 50 Back. James Koppelmann took part in the M10&U
50 Fly, Free and Back, Catherine Kruger in the W11-12 50 Free, Back &
Breast, Alyssa Wagner in theW13-14 200 Breast, 100 Fly and 50 Free
and Scott Tomensky in the M13-14 200 IM, 50 Free and 100 Back. His
200 IM time in 2:54.41 was an improvement of 6.21.
The Seadragons Swim Club hosted the
Junior Age Group Champs at the Raritan Valley Community College. The
Groundhog Meet was hosted by the Jersey Gators at the 25Yard pool at
Blair Academy in Blairstown and was attended by 12 clubs and 750
athletes. 59 athletes competed for the Morris County Swim Club, which
is accepting registrations for their 9-Week Spring Training Program.

Local Athletes Compete for Groundhog
Ryan Wyer of Montville joined 58
teammates and competed at the Groundhog Meet at Blair Academy.
Swimming for the Morris County Swim Club, he earned a Silver Time
with a 34.53 in the M11-12 50 Fly, a 3rd Place finish. He
finished 2nd in the 50 Back in 36.64. The Silver Times
qualify athletes for the Silver Championships, the final qualifier
for the NJ Swimming Short Course Junior Olympics at Rutgers
University in March.
Megan Iannino of Kinnelon made it back
to the competitive scene for the MCSC with times of 30.65 in the
W15-19 50 Free, 2:39.18 in the 200 Back and 1:06.42 in the 100 Free.
Ankit Khosla also competed and finished the M10&U 50 Free in
52.59 in his 1st season with the MCSC.
From Mt Tabor, Ted Krajkowski competed
at the NJ Swimming Jr Age Group Championships at Raritan Valley
Community College. He swam to a 5:50.24 in the M14&U 500 Free,
taking 2.50 seconds from his previous time.
Lisa Pinney of Boonton Twp Competed in
the W11-12 50 Breast, Back and Free. Her 50 Free of 36.05 was an
improvement of .25.

Brophy is 3-3 at Meet
Meagn Brophy of Randolph scored
improved times in 3 of 3 events for the Morris County Swim Club at
the Groundhog Meet at Blair Academy. This is Brophy’s 1st
year with the MCSC and has posted improved times at all meets she has
competed.
Brophy finished the W11-12 100 IM in
1:25.43, an improvement of 1.21, the 50 Fly in 37.52, 2.53 better and
50 Breast in 44.00, a drop of .78. She competes in the summer for
the Shongum Lake team, competing in the North Jersey Regional Lake
League.
Charlie Trinco rejoined the MCSC and
improved in 2 of 3 events. She had a 1.23 improvement in the W9-10
100 IM to finish under the 2-minute mark in 1:59.82 and 50 Back in
54.82. Catherine Barrow competed in the W10&U 50 Fly, Free and
Back.

Lin & Oussenko Slice Through Water
Anna Lin of Chatham swam to 3 personal
Best Times at the recent Groundhog Meet. Competing for the Morris
County Swim Club, Lin cut 2.43 in the W10&U 50 Fly to finish
56.17, 50 Free in 44.19, better by 1.29 and 50 Back in 53.28 and
improvement of 7.40 seconds.
Also from Chatham, Maire
Psomas-Jackloski dropped time in 2 of 3 events. She posted a 1:42.33
in the W9-10 100 IM and 38.61 50 Free. Harry Townsend is a new member
of the MCSC and competed in his first meet. He swam to a 57.37 M10&U
50 Free and 1:01.08 50 Back.
From East Hanover, Dennis Oussenko swam
to a 1st Place in the M7&U 25 Free in 20.47. He also
earned 3rd in the 25 Back in 27.32 and 4th in
the 25 Breast in 31.30. Reagan Lyle posted better times in the M10&U
50 Free in 54.25 and 50 Back in 1:01.03.

Brendan Duff earned a 46.54 in the M9-10 50 Free and 51.91 in the 50
Back. MCSC veteran Amanda Wisolmerski competed in the W11-12 50 Fly,
Free and Back.

Gold & Silver
Matt Ahlmeyer of Morris Plains swam to
a Gold Time and 2nd Place finish in the M11-12 100
Backstroke at the Groundhog Meet held at Blair Academy. Competing for
the Morris County Swim Club, Ahlmeyer finished the 100 Back in
1:13.02. The Gold time qualifies the athlete for the NJ Swimming
Short Course Junior Olympics at Rutgers University in March.
Ahlmeyer finished in 1st
Place in the 50 Fly and 5th Place in the 200 Breast. His
50 Fly time of 33.00 was an improvement of .88 seconds and landed
just shy of the Gold qualifying time of 32.69. He’ll have 2 more
opportunities to make Gold when the MCSC competes at a meet at Fort
Dix Feb 24-25 and the Silver Championships at St Peters in early
March. Ahlymeyer has earned 4 Gold times, 50, 100 & 200 Back and
200 Fly. His collection of 9 Silver Times in other events qualify
Ahlmeyer for the Silver Championships, the final JO Championships
qualifier. On Feb 3rd, he earned Gold in the 200 Back at
the NJ Jr age Group Championships with a time of 2:33.29. Sister
Rachel sliced 1.75 to finish the W8&U 100 IM in 1:58.11.
Brian Caffrey of Morristown swam to
Silver in the M10&U 50 Fly in 43.64, dropping 2.80. He also
improved in the 50 Back with a 44.19. Brother Joey cut time in the
M7&U 25 Free to 22.33 and a 3rd Place. Sister Amanda
competed in the W11-12 50 Free, Back and Breast. The MCSC has 170+
members with 11 first year members from the Morristown area. Julia
Hall, Erin Hession & Gabrielle Ferrara competed in the W10&U
50 Fly, Free and Back, with Hall cutting time from the Fly and Free
and Hession slicing time from the Fly and Back. Maura Scully earned a
1:44.96 in the W9-10 100 IM, 38.06 50 Free and 48.84 50 Back. Maggi
Servais cut time in 2 events, the W10&U 50 Free in 44.69 and 50
Back in 53.56. Brother Ryan trimmed 3.06 from the M11-12 50 Back in
50.44. In their 1st meet, Kathryn Zangari posted a
1:56.00 in the W9-10 100 IM, 46.62 50 Free and 50.41 50 Back. Alex
Monetti earned a 49.41 W10&U 50 Free and 59.92 50 Back. Sister
Gabby clocked in with a 41.39 W10&U 50 Free and 1:01.34 50 Back.
Ellen O’Donnell came in with a 1:46.47 W9-10 100 IM, 42.03 50 Free
and 49.33 50 Back. Brother Colin finished the M10&U 50 Back in
52.62.
Jamie Viotto of Morris Twp picked up 2
Silver Times. He cut 2.73 in the M10&U 100 Breast to finish
1:49.32 and .68 in the 50 Fly in 42.06. Brother Justin picked up two
2ndth Place in the 25 Free. Sister
Jackie swam the W13-14 100 Fly and 50 Free. Nicole Rose showed
excellent progress and cut time in 2 of 3 events. She slashed 22.22
in the W9-10 100 IM in 1:56.74 and 1.96 in the 50 Free in 43.52. Place finishes with a 29.56 M7&U 25 Fly and 25.51
