4Some Snatches Victory in Water


Garrett Pullis and Brian Stiles of Denville, Ryan Wyer of Montiville and Matt Ahlmeyer of Morris Plains swam to a dramatic, come from behind 1st Place finish in the M11-12 200 Medley Relay for the Morris County Swim Club at the January Blitz held in Montgomery NY Jan 6-7. Anchoring the event, Stiles snatched the lead on his last freestyle strokes to win at the wall to finish 2:10.03, a margin of .2 seconds.


Ahlmeyer sprang off the wall to lead off the relay with a 50yd Backstroke time of 34.97. His quick turn at the 25yd mark kept his team close to the event leader. Wyer followed with an explosive start off the blocks in his Breaststroke leg that caught the leader. Wyer set a personal best mark of 39.69, though even at that pace, couldn’t stay with the leader.


Pullis set a blistering 27.89 mark in the 50 Butterfly, setting a personal best time. The stong effort made up some of the distance in the 3rd leg of the relay, trailing now by a body length. Stiles wasn’t able to close the gap on the 1st 25, but upon making the turn, made a mad dash to the finish in an attempt to finally overtake the leader. His touch at the wall in a 50 Freestyle time of 27.48 enabled the team to finish first by an arm length. “It’s awesome to hear a capacity crowd cheering while watching our swimmers perform so well!” exclaimed Head Coach Jenn Ciulla of Madison after the event.


In individual events, Pullis swam to Gold times in 6 different events, Stiles 4 and Wyer 1. Gold Times earn the swimmers entry into the NJ Swimming Short Course Junior Olympics at Rutgers in March. Wyer earned his 1st Gold with a 50 Free time of 28.81. Wyer also earned 5 Silver times, 4 fo Ahlmeyer and Stiles 2. Pullis’ 8 events earned him 6 1st Places, 1 2ndrd. Denville swimmer Stephanie Harris earned 2 Silver times with a 1:19.10 in the W10&U 100 Free and 45.59 in the 50 Breast. Nicole Harris earned her Silver with a 1:14.13 in the W13-14 100 Fly.


Also from Denville, Shannon Hughes swam to best times in 6 of 7 events, a 29.24 W13-14 50 Free, 1:34.64 100 Breast, 1:21.13 100 Fly, 1:06.28 100 Free, 1:22.01 100 Back and 2:53.41 200 IM. Anna Bacaglini set new marks in 6 of 8 events, including a W11-12 100 Back time of 1:23.12, an improvement of 25.03 seconds. Alyssa Wagner made new best times in 5 of 7 events, a 32.21 W13-14 50 Free, 1:31.76 100 Breast, 2:47.54 200 Back, 1:11.36 100 Free and 1:18.38 100 Back. Catherine Kruger improved in 5 of 8 and dropped 15.26 in the W11-12 100 Breast to finish in 1:51.27.


Molly Shaffer set new times in 5 events, the W8&U 50 Free in 44.94, 50 Fly in 1:08.57, 100 Free in 1:45.21, 50 Back in 56.92 and 100IM in 2:04.80, all Top 10 finishes. Sister Annie made best times in 4 events with a 2:00.03 in the W11-12 100 Breast, 53.65 in the 50 Breast, 1:33.95 in the 100 Back and 52.41 in the 50 Fly.


Michael Stiles earned Top 10 finishes in all 6 events entered, including a 21.50 improvement in the M8&U 100IM to finish 1:58.55. Sister Juliann also competed and earned a 1:05.85 in the W8&U 50 Free, good for a 1st Place in her heat. Sister Jessica swam to 4 best times including a 36.72 W11-12 50 Fly finish, a new best by 2.72. James Koppelmann swam to a personal best of 1:13.10 in the M8&U 50 Breast. Melinda Pullis set a new best of 2:52.69 in the W 200 Back, improving 33.10. Brittany Campo set new best times in 2 events and Katie Scoville also competed. Campo and Scoville also swim for Morris Knolls.


Mt Tabor athlete Ted Krajkowski set 4 best times at the meet. He finished 29.65 in the M13-14 50 Free, 1:34.61 in the 100 Breast, 2:52.43 in the 200 Back and 1:04.51 in the 100 Back, all best times.


Boonton Twp’s Lisa Pinney sliced time off 5 of 8 events, including an 18.20 improvement in theW11-12 100 Back to finish 1:39.29. Her other best tims were set in the 100 Free, 50 Free, 50 Breast and 50 Fly.


From Kinnelon, Jay DeAlessi competed and had a 1:53.26 in the M9-10 100 Free, 58.40 in the 50 Breast and 1:01.01 in the 50 Fly.


From Mt Lakes, Madison Clifton earned a best time in the W11-12 50 Free, finishing in 36.34. Jeff Wendler also swam to a best time, his in the M11-12 100 Free, with a time of 1:28.47.

Beaudouin & Putenis Blitz Old Times


Zinta Putenis and Kristina Beaudouin of Madison combined for 10 of 11 new best times for the Morris County Swim Club at the January Blitz Meet in upstate NY Jan 6-7. In all 212 new times were set by club athletes.


Putenis garnered 4 of 4 best times, 2 Top 10’s, in her 1 day of competition with a 29.74 W11-12 50 Free, 42.76 50 Breast, 1:18.33 100 Back and 35.06 50 Fly. Her 50 Free time was good for Silver status, earning entry into the NJ Swimming Silver Championships in March. Beaudouin improved in 6 of 7, with a 30.28 in the W13-14 50 Free, 1:20.17 100 Fly, 2:45.64 200 Back, 1:06.97 100 Free, 1:18.05 100 Back and 2:49.00 200IM.


Florham Park MCSC athletes also joined in on the blitz against their old times. Amanda Wisolmerski sliced time from 7 of 8 events with a 1:07.67 in the W11-12 100 Free, 1:31.77 100 Beast, 37.16 50 Back, 30.93 50 Free, 40.99 50 Breast, 1:18.62 100 Back and 36.63 50 Fly. Sister Chrissy cut times from 3 of 4 events, finishing 1:35.77 in the W13-14 100 Breast, 1:35.60 100 Fly and 3:09.51 200 Back. Leanne Zaug improved in 3 events, earning Silver status in 2, the W13-14 50 Free in 28.00 and 100 Free in 1:00.70. Brother Austyn dropped time in 2 events including a cut of 31.74 from his M13-14 200 Back to finish 3:13.53.


From Chatham, Marie Psomas-Jackloski earned 6 new best times. She finished with a 57.53 in the W9-10 50 Breast, 49.73 in 50 Fly, 43.41 in 50 Free, 2:09.04 in 100 Breast, 49.42 in 50 Back and 1:54.36 in the 100IM.

Hall Scores 7 in Blitz


Julia Hall of Morristown scored 7 of 7 best times for the Morris County Swim Club at the January Blitz in NY Jan 6-7. New to the MCSC, Hall earned a 1:40.08 in the W9-10 100 Free, 58.19 50 in Breast, 49.66 in 50 Fly, 1:49.64 in 100 Back, 37.49 in 50 Free, 44.31 in 50 Back and 1:44.67 in the 100IM.


Also from Morristown, Patrick Bauer set 5 new best times and 6 Top 10 finishes in his 6 events. His 48.63 M8&U 50 Back earned 4th Place, 55.90 50 Fly for 5th, 1:35.04 100 Free also 5th, 1:54.59 100IM for 6th, 42.17 50 Free for 9th and 1:06.04 50 Breast for 10th Place.


Brian Caffrey earned 5 Top 10’s in the M9-10 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 Back, 100 Breast and 50 Back. He also improved his 100IM time by 10.63 finishing 1:39.42. Brother Joey earned 2 Top 10’s with a 1:48.07 M8&U 100 Free and 1:01.97 50 Back. Sister Amanda improved in 3 events with a 1:51.74 W11-12 100 Breast, 43.24 50 Back and 1:38.07 100 Back.


Gabrielle Ferrara posted 5 best times in the W9-10 100 Free in 1:34.53, 50 Breast in 1:04.09, 50 Fly in 49.37, 100 Back in 1:43.88 and 50 Back in 46.80. Erin Hession set a best time in the W9-10 100 Free in 1:25.36 and 50 Fly in 46.69. Ryan Servais improved in 6 of 8 events, in the M11-12 100 Free in 1:39.35, 100 Breast in 2:28.11, 1:59.70 in the 100IM, 50 Free in 37.95, 50 Breast in 1:03.94 and 50 Fly in 1:02.25.


From Morris Plains, Matt Ahlmeyer posted 5 improved times, 4 Silver status and 2 Top 10’s. The Silver times in 50 & 100 Free and 50 & 100 Fly, earned Matt entry into the NJ Swimming Silver Championships to be held in March. Ahlmeyer posted a 1:16.64 6th Place finish in the M11-12 100 Fly and 33.88 10th Place in the 50 Fly. Sister Rachel earned 3 Top 10 finishes with a 45.52 7th Place W8&U 50 Free, 1:50.76 9th Place 100 Free and 50.65 7th Place 50 Back.


Bianca Karpinski made new times in 4 of 6 events, despite not feeling well at the meet. She earned 4 Top 10 finishes in the 4 events, a 5thth in the 50 Free in 45.32, 6th in 100 Free in 1:43.83 and 10th in 50 Breas in 1:09.34. Shannon Keller improved in 3 events, posting a 1:20.93 in the W9-10 100 Free, 52.17 in 50 Breast and 1:55.07 in the 100 Breast. Place 49.71 W8&U 50 Back, 6


Fara Cohen of Convent Station set new marks in 4 events, a 1:38.98 W9-10 100 Free, 53.03 50 Breast, 50.45 50 Fly and 1:52.39 in the 100IM.


Morris Twp’s Jamie Viotto scored 3 Top 10’s with a 3rd in the M9-10 100 Free, 5th in the 100 Back and 7th in the 50 Fly. His 100 Free & Back performances earned him Silver status. Brother Justin improved in 2 events and scored a 9th in the M8&U 50 Fly in 1:08.76. Sister Jackie improved in 3 of 4 events, with new times set in the W13-14 50 Free, 100 Fly and 200 Back.

Brophy Sacks 7 in Blitz


Megan Brophy of Randolph swam to best times in 7 of 7 events, leading the Morris County Swim Club at the January Blitz in Montgomery NY Jan 6-7. The blitz on their old marks led to an improvement in 212 events for the 58 athletes competing for the MCSC.


Brophy’s new marks were a 1:19.26 in the W11-12 100 Free, 1:39.98 in the 100 Breast, 41.00 in the 50 Back, 1:28.40 in the 100IM and 34.92 in the 50 Free.


Also from Randolph Eric Rappeport earned Silver finish times of 1:33.31 in the M11-12 100 Breast and 1:21.40 in the 100IM. Silver times earned Rappeport entry into the NJ Swimming Silver Championships to be held in March. Chris Stringham made a best time in the M9-10 100 Free in 1:29.28. Catherine Barrow set new marks in the W9-10 50 Breast in 1:05.21 and 50 Fly in 53.34. Marc Attinello improved in 3 of 4 events, a 33.85 finish in the M11-12 50 Free, 45.06 in the 50 Breast and 41.15 in the 50 Fly.

Vilchinsky Discovers Silver in NY


Allison Vilchinsky of Mendham swam to a 1:23.75 in the W11-12 100 Butterfly at the January Blitz Meet in Monroeville NY, competing for the Morris County Swim Club. The time was a qualifying Silver time, earning entry in the NJ Swimming Silver Championships in March. She improved her times in 3 additional events, a 1:41.97 in the 100 Breast, 32.10 in the 50 Free and 1:23.17 in the 100 Back.


Alin Kenworthy of Brookside is a new member of the MCSC and competed. Kenworthy swam to a M11-12 100 Free time of 1:32.67, 50 Back in 49.21, 50 Free in 40.21 and 50 Fly in 1:09.10. Megan Thomas, another new member completed the W9-10 100 Free in 1:45.43, 50 Breast in 54.71, 50 Fly in 1:05.39, 50 Free in 44.61 and 100IM in 1:58.71.

Courtney Good of Lake Forest set a personal best time of 1:14.45 in the W13-14 100 Fly. The time qualified her for Silver status, earning entry in the NJ Swimming Silver Championships in March. Sister Taylor improved in 4 of her events, a 1:40.08 in the W9-10 100 Free, 1:50.92 in the 100 Bac, 41.79 for 50 Free and 1:52.50 in the 100 Breast.
